What Is A Video Codec?
A Video Codec Compresses and DECompresses audio and video information so it can be sent over a school network and viewed and computers on campus, at another campus at, at another campus or even at an administration facility or home.

The Video Codec is an E-rate eligible item for this years funding. Get up to a 90% discount by filing a 471 E-Rate form before the February deadline. It doesn't matter if a Video Codec was not listed in your 470 form, you can still apply for it this year. Your discount is set by the percentage of free and reduced lunches you provide. Cost for a complete system varies with the number of monitors, cameras and equipment you already own. E-rate discounts apply to the switch, cabling, installation support and rack components. Cameras, media devices, and workstation PCs are not eligible for discounts. Some of these components you probably already have and are not expensive.
